National Sport Organization (NSO) Component
The NSO component assists sport organizations in their pursuit of sport objectives that are shared by the federal government. Support provided to National Sport Organizations is targeted to priority areas consistent with the objectives of the Canadian Sport Policy.

More Canadians watched amateur sporting events in 1998 than in 1992. The number of spectators increased from 5 million or 24% of adult Canadians in 1992 to 7.6 million or 32% in 1998.
