On May 18, Celebrate International Museum Day

International Museum Day has been celebrated around the world since 1977. Each year the International Council of Museums (ICOM) selects a theme and develops resource materials.  Across Canada, museums are planning activities to mark International Museum Day. To find out how museums in your area are celebrating throughout the month, visit the Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC). While there, take a virtual tour of Canada's heritage. Dinosaur fossils, the travels of Samuel de Champlain, a deck chair from the Titanic, and hundreds of other Canadian museum artifacts and exhibits can be found on the VMC website.

Museums enable us to discover our diverse heritage and help us to know who we are and what brings us together. Take the time to explore Canada's museums on International Museum Day and every day!
