Games of la
Francophonie
Cultural Competitions
Representatives of 16 states and governments of La Francophonie will compete in the categories of song, storytelling, original dance and literature. Twenty‑seven will compete in painting, 21 in photography and 19 in sculpture. Team Canada has participants in all seven disciplines at these Games.
Arleen Thibault will captivate audiences with her storytelling skills. Benjamin Rodger will express himself through painting. Geneviève Thauvette will impress us with her original photographic works of art. Karkwa will seduce crowds with the modernity of its French songs from North America. Sarah Beck will explore sculpture as a medium for her vision of our consumer society. Stéphanie Filion will lead us into the literary world through the short story. And the creative Virginie Brunelle will present an original dance to delight both the eyes and the spirit. Guaranteed!
Artists were recruited through a national competition launched in fall 2008. National juries pre-selected candidates. Then, the Comité international des Jeux de la Francophonie, based in Paris, made the final selection of the artists in each of the seven categories
