Games of la
Francophonie
Opening Ceremony Tonight – Yallah! Yallah!
The official opening ceremony of the VIGames of La Francophonie will be held today at the Cité sportive Camille Chamoun
The show, called “Partir/Revenir,” was conceived by French producer Daniel Charpentier. The ceremony will showcase Lebanon’s characteristics, history, uniqueness and diversity.
Nearly 1,700 musicians, dancers, singers, extras, technicians, scouts and volunteers will be mobilized for this large gathering of young people.
In front of a backdrop 50 metres wide by 12 metres high, Lebanon’s Magida El Roumi and Senegal’s Youssou N’Dour, two international stars, will perform as part of the ceremony.
More than 30,000 spectators will attend this event, which the Organizing Committee has been preparing for the past four years, with pride, a lot of hard work and attention to detail.
All of the participating delegations in these VI Games, including Team Canada, will enter the ceremony in procession.
Projected on giant screens all around the stadium, the 52‑minute performance will be broadcast live by Lebanon’s Future TV and TV5.
Enjoy the party, Beirut! Good luck, Team Canada! And let the Games begin!
