Photography and Sculpture:
Canada Wins Gold and Silver!

Team Canada excelled in visual arts, winning both gold and silver medals.

October 4, 2009 - The jury of the photography competition, led by Geneviève Ruest, former bronze medallist at the Games in Ottawa-Hull, awarded a gold medal to our candidate Geneviève Thauvette at the results ceremony at the Palais de l'UNESCO last night. "I was so happy, I cried on the podium. Now I can really say that the Games in Lebanon are fantastic!" she said, with one of her trademark laughs.

The originality of the works presented by Sarah Beck in the sculpture competition earned her a silver medal. "I am surprised and touched by this recognition." Although she chose to create an short-lived work at the Games, we wish that Sarah's success in Lebanon accompanies her throughout her career.
