Heather Bansley and Julie Roberge Jessi Lelliot

October 2, 2009 Since Monday, our women volleyball players have dazzled their opponents by winning games against Congo, France, Egypt and Niger. Heather Bansley and Julie Rodrigue also beat Burundi yesterday.

“Not having lost a game so far is really good for our confidence,” said Heather. “It’s been great playing with Julie, and I’ve enjoyed being here at the Games. It was really exhilarating walking into the stadium with everyone cheering, and the atmosphere in the Village is fantastic.”

The men’s team of Jessi Lelliot and Benjamin Saxton started the week off strong with victories over Niger and Burundi. But they met their match on Wednesday when they went up against France. Their next game is today.

Ben is feeling good about the competition so far. “It’s not going to be easy, but I think we have a good shot at the gold,” he said.
