Visual Arts Opening at Palais Unesco

The opening of the visual art exhibition took place at the Palais Unesco, Sunday morning. There was a sizeable crowd that came to admire the works of art from throughout the French-speaking world.

Visitors were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the works created by Team Canada in painting, photography and sculpture. “I thought it was excellent and exciting! Each country presented a different perspective on their art through the works they presented,” said Geneviève Thauvette, our candidate in photography, of her first international competition. Benjamin Rodger, with his brilliantly painted self-portrait, and Sarah Beck, with her spectacular sculpture, agreed with her.

We’ll bet a shawarma and a shish kabob that these artists will go far in the competitions!

Traditionally, Phoenicians kept the burnt remains of their dead in jars, along with their souls. This discovery helped in understanding the diet and social structure of this lost civilization.
