Book Publishing Industry Development Program

As announced by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages on September 22, 2009, the Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP) has been streamlined and renamed the Canada Book Fund (CBF). By making this change, the Department of Canadian Heritage wishes to signal a shift in its focus from developing the industry to providing support to a mature industry that will help bring Canadian books to readers.

The principal objective of the Book Publishing Industry Development Program (BPIDP) is to ensure access to a diverse range of Canadian-authored books in Canada and abroad.

The program seeks to achieve this objective by fostering a viable Canadian book industry that publishes and markets Canadian-authored books.

The program has four components:

Aid to Publishers
Supply Chain Initiative
Collective Initiatives (previously Aid to Industry and Associations)
International Marketing Assistance
