| Description | Following a national study, the Réseau de développement économique et d'employabilité (RDÉE Canada) began working in collaboration with Direction Ontario to develop and test a French services rating system. There will be a national database managed by Direction Ontario, and businesses will be able to rate their own services by filling out a self-evaluation form directly on the Web.
|
| Objectives | | • | Develop a standardized system for rating bilingual services that can be used across Canada | | • | Educate businesses about the importance of offering bilingual services | | • | Position Francophone and Acadian communities in the tourism industry
| |
| Activities | | • | Canada-wide study on the rating of services | | • | Implementation of a rating system based on four categories: | | | ► | Promotion in French (Website, brochures) | | | ► | Onsite documentation in French (menus, info on accommodations) | | | ► | French spoken in peak season and/or on request | | | ► | French spoken at all times | | • | Promotion of the initiative | | • | Registration of businesses on the Web
| |
| Partners | | • | Partnerships with the 12 provincial and territorial RDÉEs and with several other regional, provincial and territorial tourism industry players | |
| Funding | | • | RDÉE Canada and its government partners, such as Human Resources and Social Development Canada
| |
| Results | | • | Increased visibility of French capacity in tourist establishments outside Quebec
| |
Ingredients for success | | • | Various rating categories – companies can have from one to four colour-coded symbols (fr), depending on the services they offer, encouraging them to improve various aspects of their services
| |
| Challenges | | • | Convincing businesses to participate | | • | Avoiding misleading claims of bilingual services
