Governor General David JohnstonDavid, it is a great honour to congratulate you on the date of your installation as Governor General of Canada. You have given incredible leadership at The University of Waterloo and the entire Waterloo Region for the past decade. As one who was fortunate to get to know you over the past five years, I can say without reservation that I consider you a friend and mentor. I know that you will now serve all of Canada with the same vision and passion that you invested in Waterloo Region. God Bless you and your family in your new responsibilities.

In less than 48 hours your life will change for ever. You will enter centre stage as Canada's Defacto and Executive Head of State and Canada's representative to Her Majesty The Queen of Canada. I wish you, your spouse and your family all the best during your term as Governor General and Commander in Chief of this Great Nation of Canada. I hope you and your wife much health and happiness in the Vice Regal Role. You are following a great list of outstanding Governors and Governors General and I am confident you will be as great Governor General.

I want to congratulate you Sir on your installation this friday as the 28th Governor-General of Canada and the new Commander-in-Chief of the Canadian Armed Forces. As a semi-retired Officer of the Canadian Forces, I want to say welcome Sir and I look forward to possibly meeting you if you come to Halifax Nova Scotia. Devenir Gouverneur général d'un pays comme le nôtre est une récompense à un grand canadien également une responsabilité et un travail admirable qui exigera du couple vice-royal commbien d'adnégation et de dévouement sans pareil.
Vous succédez à une Gouverneure générale qui fut un exemple pour tous les Canadiens et un facteur d'unité comment apprécié de tous les canadien avec une admiration sans borne venant de l'étranger.
Monsieur, madame Félicitations que votre nouvelle tâche auprès du peuple canadien soit couronné de succès.
